JSM Panel

SoCal Data Science alliance will be at the Joint Statistical Meetings in August. A panel session is organized by Dr. Mine Dogucu and will be chaired by Dr. Babak Shahbaba. The panelists include Dr. Sam Behseta from SoCal Data Science Alliance and other PIs from similar NSF projects including the Inland Empire Data Science's Dr. Mariam Salloum and Central Coast Data Science's Dr. Alex Franks. The package aims to support data science educators in automating grading workflow without automating the feedback. More information is available on the package website.

With support from NSF HDR DSC award #2123366, Dr. Mine Dogucu, along with her collaborator Dr. Jingchen (Monika) Hu has published a manuscript titled Content and Computing Outline of Two Undergraduate Bayesian Courses: Tools, Examples, and Recommendations.

As Cypress College and California State University Fullerton get ready to offer their first introductory data science course, Drs. Alma Castro and Jessica Jaynes organized a workshop for instructors. Teaching an Introductory Data Science Course with Tidyverse workshop was led by Dr. Mine Dogucu at Cypress College on Dec 15th, 2021. Workshop materials are available online.
